Matanuska Glacier Summer Tours
Departures: 11:00 AM or 2:00 PM (Call to schedule.) *9:00AM, 10:00AM & 5:00PM may be available during certain months of the season. Call for details*
Cost: $100 per person.
Included: All fees & equipment including crampons, helmets, and hiking sticks (if needed). Our crampons fit sizes from youth size 1 through adult men's size 16.
Duration: 2 to 3 hours (depending on conditions)
What to Bring:
During Summer months, we suggest you dress in light to medium layers as it can get very warm on the ice, especially during sunny days. We recommend bringing sunglasses, a hat with a brim, sunscreen, and sturdy footwear like hiking shoes or boots that are water resistant. Be sure to check the weather before your trek and dress appropriately. Call the office if needed.
Matanuska Glacier Adventures offers guided glacier tours to the icefall area of the glacier. Come to spend the day exploring ancient ice, in addition to learning about the history and glaciology of the Matanuska Valley of Southcentral Alaska. The toe rises gradually to the impressive ice falls, moulins, and crevasses of the glacier, offering the chance to take a step back in time and view how ice shapes the land around it.
